We review the electoral and boundary arrangements of councils to make sure they are fair. Our reviews include at least two rounds of public consultation before we make recommendations for change.

The Commission has been carefully considering the implications of the Government’s English Devolution White Paper on its work programme. In light of this, it has decided that this review should be paused for the foreseeable future. Should there be a change to the status of the review, this page will be updated.

Councillor numbers
The first stage of this electoral review is to determine the number of councillors who should represent the local authority in the future.
Effective date
The District of Bassetlaw (Electoral Changes) Order 2000 was made on 13 December 2000.
Final report
Our recommendations for new electoral and boundary arrangements were published on 16 May 2000.
