We review the electoral and boundary arrangements of councils to make sure they are fair. Our reviews include at least two rounds of public consultation before we make recommendations for change. 

We are carrying out an electoral review of Sunderland because it has been a long time since the last review.

The Commission agreed to extend the warding consultation deadline from 17 July 2023 to 31 July 2023 following a correction to the Council's forecast earlier in the month.

*Reuploaded on 7 July to correct an allocation error made by the Council. Concerns 999 electors in polling districts M04, M05 and N02, which does not affect the total forecast electorate. 

Councillor numbers

We have decided that Sunderland City Council should have 75 councillors.
