Consultation on proposals
We have proposed a new pattern of divisions. We want to hear the views of local people and organisations to help us produce our recommendations for change.
As a result of our final recommendations on new warding patters, we are making changes to the electoral arrangements for the following parish/town councils:
Previous stages
Initial consultation
We ask local people and organisations to tell us about their communities. The Commission has decided that the number of councillors in Thanet should be 42. This is a change from the current council which has 56.
Councillor numbers
The first stage of this electoral review is to determine the number of councillors who should represent the local authority in the future.
Effective date
The District of Thanet (Electoral Changes) Order 2001 was made on 1 November 2001.
The new arrangements came into effect at the May 2003 elections.
Final report
Our recommendations for new electoral and boundary arrangements were published on 9 May 2001.
